To further enhance its understanding of consumer experiences and strengthen innovation in the U.S. market, Midea’s Kitchen Water Heater Appliance Division is expanding its Research and Development capabilities. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with experience in appliance field testing and consumer research to join our team as a Consumer Product Testing & Insights Specialist. This role is ideal for a curious, hands-on individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can manage multiple field test projects simultaneously.
The Testing and Insights Specialist will play a key role in connecting real-world consumer feedback with product development teams, ensuring that insights from in-home testing directly inform future innovations. Responsibilities include managing test logistics through trusted third-party vendors, creating screening tools and surveys, analyzing performance data, and preparing reports that clearly communicate both successes and challenges to key stakeholders. Acting as the bridge between consumers, research teams, and product developers, this position ensures every field test generates actionable insights that drive continuous improvement and product excellence.
Some domestic travel required for field tests.
Key Responsibilities
Field Testing & Logistics Coordination:
- Work with third-party agencies and vendors to manage transportation and installation of appliances (“Field Units”) at participant homes.
- Oversee and attend installations with engineering teams to ensure proper setup and document outcomes.
- Handle domestic and international shipment arrangements of large appliances and test-related items.
- Facilitate service support with internal repair team.
Participant Recruitment & Selection:
- Define criteria and screening guidelines for selecting qualified field test participants.
- Work with third-party agencies to recruit participants for the field tests.
- Ensure a diverse and representative participant pool aligned with research goals and product requirements.
- Maintain participant database and ensure compliance with data privacy and consent procedures.
Participant Engagement & Data Collection:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for test participants, engaging via digital and in-person communications.
- Proactively collect and document user feedback, product issues, and performance observations.
- Maintain a detailed, up-to-date tracker/database of all reported issues and field findings.
- Collaborate with the consumer insights team to develop and conduct follow-up surveys, interviews, and research as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with global product development teams to relay consumer feedback and field performance data.
- Participate in team discussions to ensure insights from field testing inform future product designs and iterations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in management, marketing, consumer research, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in consumer research methodologies and/or project management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Teams, or equivalent collaboration tools.
- Familiarity with CRM or issue-tracking systems is beneficial.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in computer science, engineering, or field service, including but not limited to product testing, product design, and more.
- Experience in consumer-facing fieldwork, including appliance installation or repair.
- Experience with data management and sentiment analysis is preferred.
- Experience working within international businesses and office spaces.
