Job Summary
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Data Scientist to join our Consumer and Market Insights (CMI) team, focusing on laundry appliances. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in extracting, analyzing, and interpreting data to inform product strategies and enhance consumer engagement. This role requires expertise in web scraping, data visualization, social media analytics, and close collaboration with the CMI leader to deliver actionable insights.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design and consumer research teams to develop machine learning models, predictive models, and statistical solutions for laundry appliance products.
- Develop and maintain web scraping tools to gather consumer feedback from platforms like Amazon, Best Buy, and Google Reviews.
- Clean and process collected data to identify trends, sentiments, and improvement opportunities.
- Conduct social media monitoring to track brand mentions, competitor activities, and emerging consumer preferences across various platforms.
- Aid product improvements and strategic R&D planning by gathering insights and translating data into actionable feedback, presenting these findings to R&D teams.
- Develop tools to streamline patent searches, focusing on relevant patents based on specific keywords.
- Create and manage interactive and intuitive dashboards using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Python to visualize key metrics and consumer feedback and provide clear, actionable insights.
- Participate in user research activities, such as innovation workshops and ethnographic studies, to gain deeper insights into user behavior.
- Stay updated with new data science techniques to enhance the understanding of consumer behavior and trends.
- Assist in the design and analysis of surveys and questionnaires.
- Integrate data science processes with user research and development workflows.
- Collaborate with user researchers and cross-functional teams to combine qualitative and quantitative findings into cohesive business strategies.
- Work closely with the CMI team to interpret data findings and align them with business objectives.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to develop sales tools derived from large datasets, including sales incentives, competitive analysis, and service quality data.
- Utilize AI/ML techniques for thematic analysis of large datasets, including consumer reviews.
- Identify and conduct follow-up research methods, such as surveys and experiments, to validate correlational data.
- Identify business opportunities to apply data science for process optimization.
- Engage with customers to discuss product reviews and feedback processes.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support research and business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams.
- 1-2 years of experience in data mining consumer product reviews.
- Proficiency in web scraping tools (e.g., Beautiful Soup, Scrapy, Selenium).
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, QuickSight).
- Knowledge of social media analytics tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Sprinklr, Talkwalker) and sentiment analysis.
- Proficient at data wrangling and organization.
- Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis, including regression and hypothesis testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to synthesize complex research findings into actionable business insights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience working with global teams.
- Background in survey design, administration (Qualtrics, Conjointly) and analysis.
- Previous experience with Midea or similar companies in the consumer goods and appliance industry.
- Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP) for sentiment and text analysis.
