Position Overview:
The Transportation Assistant Manager oversees the daily operations of Midea’s international transportation activities, encompassing the entire process from container shipping from the overseas factory to customer receipt.
This role works closely with shipping lines, customs brokers, drayage carriers and internal departments to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. The objective is to guarantee that customers receive their orders on time and in full, fostering a seamless and worry-free experience that continually strengthens their trust in Midea's ability to meet their needs and deliver products on time.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Support Logistics Manager in resolving day-to-day operational issues for Midea’s import and occasional export shipments.
- Supervise a team of inbound specialists.
- Oversee issuance of various reports regarding shipment tracking and transit times.
- Communicate with overseas teams regarding order status, shipping details, and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., supply planning, warehouse, finance) to align import activities with business needs.
- Monitor and resolve import and drayage issues to prevent accessorial costs.
- Collect, analyze and provide weekly status updates on shipments in danger of accruing accessorial costs.
- Manage import deliveries to customers or Midea 3pl warehouses while ensuring timely delivery, responsibilities include: Overseeing timely and accurate paperwork for customs clearance and delivery. Closing of shipping files on a timely basis to recognize revenue. Provide visibility to internal & external stakeholders on delivery schedules.
- Maximize profitability through superior customer service, effective and prompt communication, and follow-up on all pending customer matters.
- Oversee all insurance claims until they are resolved, and refunds are received.
- Identify potential areas for improvement and implement corrective action plans.
- Work with IT on process improvement initiatives.
- Ad Hoc projects and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
- 4-5 years of experience in ocean imports, experience in exports is a plus.
- Organized, strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
- Experience supervising a small team.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of customs regulations, Incoterms, and international shipping practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Willing to attend Monday to Thursday onsite and Friday work from home
