Midea America Research Center (MARC) in Waltham Massachusetts. With this objective, MARC is seeking a Senior Mechanical CAD Engineer to help pioneer the future of floorcare innovation.

You will be responsible for working with domestic and international R&D teams to help bring the cross-functional vision to life. You will be working side by side with our in-house Designers, Engineers, CMI specialists, Marketing and sales teams to revolutionize the way people clean their homes.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the North American Floorcare projects, including mechanical component and structural design, performance, feature development, collaboration, and the establishment of plan of actions and milestone tracking;
  • Responsible for performance improvements for NA market, exceeding consumer expectations for Floorcare.
  • Will complete design and development of new product appearance parts and functional parts as required in support of Industrial Design projects for use in consumer research/insights;
  • Will work to develop technology for intellectual property development for Floorcare.
  • Responsible for collaboration of structural design and improvement changes of related parts for NA Floorcare products.
  • Research the field of mechanical technology, responsible for organizing technical research on key core technologies focusing on structural design and mechanical transmission;
  • Participate in research on related innovation projects and innovation methods;
  • Work closely with the North American R&D team and the Chinese Overseas R&D team;
  • Actively participate in technical project reviews and innovation research projects;
  • Cross-functional cooperation with various internal and external engineering teams to jointly carry out project work;
  • Collaborate with project managers and Floorcare R&D team on multi-generational technical plan roadmaps;

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong CAD skills, preferably in Onshape, or SolidWorks.
  • Good understanding of product development processes.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing, structure design, and general assemblies.
  • Extensive experience in developing consumer products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally.

 

 

Education and Experience:

  • 5-8 years of Mechanical Engineering experience within the floorcare or small domestic appliance industries.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar degree.
  • Domestic and international experience.
  • Working with remote product development teams in multiple time zones
  • Experience working with Industrial design teams to retain the overall esthetics and appearance of the product while meeting engineering requirements.
  • Extensive experience working with CAD.
  • Experience in traditional and non-traditional manufacturing methods
  • Extensive understanding of material selection and how to adjust the design for cost and manufacturing optimization.
  • Strong ability to rapidly prototype in 3D.
  • Desire to iterate ideas using 3D printing and other mediums to make continuous product improvements.
  • Experience working with 3D printers and traditional shop tools to build models.
  • Experience with BOM walks and identifying items for clarity and optimization
  • Goal-oriented and self-managed personality with strong entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Proven successful execution for complex products that made big in-market impacts.
